Is God speaking to you?

From Charles Spurgeon:

I believe that every particle of dust that dances in the sunbeam does not move an atom more or less than God wishes— the fall of leaves from a popular is as fully ordained as the tumbling of an avalanche.

If God is moving the dust particles on our glass tables with his fatherly hands and if he cares about birds that are  falling  to the ground, and each flower petal how confident should we be with him watching over our lost keys, our children’s spouses, our sisters drunkenness, our mothers Alzheimers, our neighbors depression, or our divided churches, our nations  racism our children who are bullied, our lack of income our diagnoses, the Covid virus.

Could we together today put on our great sovereign Gods truth. Oh how he loves us.

Ever wonder if God is speaking to you? John 10 he calls his own sheep by name, they follow him because they know his voice.

When  coincidences unexpected things happen we pause  thinking that’s odd. But really God is there wanting to show himself to us, wanting to speak to us he’s preplanning our daily events. HE is micromanaging our lives for his ultimate plan. I Thessalonians 5:18,  we are to give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus.

This is how we can know he’s   involved in every minute detail of our everyday lives.

My husband and I were at a funeral yesterday.

Interestingly the wife a dear friend of 35 years, shared a story with us. She began speaking about our sons funeral 27 years ago. She went on to say that her husband who had passed was a different man after Jonathan’s funeral. He was kinder and more compassionate reflective of his life. This man carried our son’s memorial card in his wallet for years. John and I wondered when he could of came into relationship with Jesus. We both agreed God must have saved him that dark day of Jonathan’s funeral. Funny thing we didn’t even remember him being there. God was speaking to John and I yesterday. He was showing us our dear son Jonathan’s BIG purpose in his short time on earth.

For God to share that story through his wife 27 years later was soothing ointment for our souls and HE was reminding us our suffering is never in vain it’s never lost. It’s all gain and precisely directed by our lavishly loving father.

(That’s God speaking )

Years ago JOHN and I were moving from our big house to a smaller one  so we could  live in the boundaries of our new salary as a church staff. John had left his corporate job for this gig at our church.

He came to me one day, Cindy I think we should live in line with my new salary. His first pay check he thought was an expense report🙈.

The upcoming  weekend our subdivision was having it’s annual garage sale. The coveted one of our county. John had what he thought was a brilliant idea we would put a big moving sale sign on our front lawn and sell all our belongings! Everything must go he said we will be moving to a much smaller humbler home one in line with a church staff salary.

I agreed mostly because I could never rent a storage unit it’s against my religion. I’m a minimalist when it comes to extra stuff! My stomach ached, all this hard change and getting rid of all my memories. That morning I woke very early 4 am. I didn’t sleep a wink, my heart was pounding heavy I grabbed my bible went with my coffee into my favorite chair and prayed…God please I need to hear from you, I opened to proverbs 23:1

“When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you,” and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. Do not crave his delicacy’s that food is deceptive.

Do not wear yourself out to get rich. Do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches and they are gone for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

Wow wee! I belly laughed, what Lord, cut my throat if I’m given to gluttony. We had 3 floors of beautiful furniture in our home. God was showing me, Cindy this is just stuff, I hold in my capable hands, all things in the world, do you  think I will keep from you, I have waiting for you my dearest child the most wonderful gifts. He was saying, let go of the earthly belongings, this is my plan for you, not Johns plan, not your plan but mine.

Oddly that brought me enormous comfort and peace as we opened the doors of our home to sell everything we owned. Poor Adam our son came home from school and his bed was gone! We promised he would get another bed, a better bed. Just like Jesus was saying to me.

What did I have to do that day to get comfort and peace and contentment?

I had to come to our Heavenly Father sit at his feet ask him to speak and then open his love letter and let him talk with me.

Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. James 4:8

As I write this God is speaking to me again in Proverbs 23 this time it’s about food. Don’t give in to gluttony that food is deceptive, from verse 3, don’t crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive. What you don’t know Is that I have been giving in to food lusts this last week. I’ve told myself that I deserve to eat what everyone else eats, Cakes, pies, candy.

I’ve been told by my medical doctors to obstain from sugar as it’s bad for my body. I’ve been suffering horrible hip pain that could be solved by nutrient eating.

While traveling a dear friend shared with me a book: “eat not to die” funny name, since we all die, two things we all do pay taxes and die you’ve heard it a million times.

I down loaded the trial 5 pages of the book immediately I was convicted as I’m writing Proverbs 23 to you God just bam! bam! bam!

THAT FOOD IS DECEPTIVE!

Really Lord, get rid of it don’t be deceived like eve in the garden thinking you deserve to have that fruit and believe you’ll be like ME knowing good and evil.

What now?

Only one thing Obey! Obey! Obey! This is the path to my greatest happiness.

As you spend time with God and seek him out you will get to greatest hearing of his voice. Those who have the most vibrant faith are those who are the greatest listeners of God and then do what he says.
